Frequently asked questions
How is CGPA calculated?
Multiply each subject's grade point by its credits, add those products, then divide by the total credits. It is a weighted average — a 4-credit paper counts twice as much as a 2-credit one.
Can I just average my semester GPAs?
Only if every semester carried identical credits. Otherwise the answer is wrong. The tool shows the plain average alongside the correct figure when they differ, which is often by a tenth or more.
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA is for a single semester; CGPA is cumulative across all semesters completed, weighted by each semester's credits. Switch to the semester view to compute CGPA from SGPAs.
How do I convert CGPA to a percentage?
The common convention on a 10-point scale is CGPA × 9.5, which comes from CBSE. Many universities publish their own formula, so check yours — an admissions office will use theirs, not a generic multiplier.
