Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate percentage of marks?
Add all the marks you scored, add all the marks available, divide the first by the second and multiply by 100. Not the average of each subject's percentage — those only agree when every subject is out of the same total.
Why does averaging subject percentages give a different answer?
Because it treats a 50-mark practical as equal in weight to a 100-mark theory paper. Totalling the marks weights each subject by its actual size, which is what boards and universities do.
How do I convert my percentage to CGPA?
Divide by 9.5 on the common 10-point convention — the tool shows this automatically. Check whether your board publishes a different formula before using it officially.
