Frequently asked questions
What resolution should I choose?
Screen (1ร) is fine for a preview or a thumbnail. Retina (2ร) is the safe default and suits slides and web use. Print (3ร) is worth it when the image will be printed or zoomed, at the cost of much larger files and more memory.
Will the text still be selectable?
No. The page becomes a picture, so text stops being selectable or searchable. That is what you want for a slide, a listing or a preview, and the wrong choice if the recipient still needs to copy from it โ send the PDF for that.
Can it convert a scanned PDF?
Yes, and it is the easiest case: a scan is already images, so each page renders straight out. What it will not do is recognise the text in a scan โ that needs OCR, which is a different job.
Is there a page limit?
No, but rendering happens on your device, so a long document at print resolution takes time and memory. Converting in ranges is quicker if you only need a few pages out of hundreds.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. It is opened and rendered inside your browser, which matters when the document is a contract, a bank statement or anything else you would rather not hand to a website.
