Frequently asked questions

How do I measure mileage accurately?

Fill to the automatic cut-off, reset the trip meter, drive normally, then fill to the cut-off at the same pump. The fuel added is what the distance consumed. One tank is noisy โ€” average three consecutive tanks for a figure you can rely on.

Why is my mileage lower than advertised?

Advertised figures come from a standardised laboratory cycle with no traffic, no air conditioning and gentle acceleration. Real driving runs 15โ€“30% below, and heavy city traffic can halve it. A gap of that size is normal, not a fault.

What improves mileage?

Correct tyre pressure, which is the cheapest and most overlooked; steady speeds around 60โ€“80 km/h; anticipating traffic instead of braking hard; removing roof carriers and unnecessary weight; and keeping air and fuel filters serviced.

How do I compare petrol, diesel, CNG and electric?

Not by mileage โ€” the units differ. Compare cost per kilometre, which the tool shows: divide the price per unit by the distance that unit covers. That is the only fair comparison across fuel types.
