Frequently asked questions
How many square feet are in an acre?
43,560 square feet, which is 4,047 square metres or about 4,840 square yards. A hectare is 2.47 acres.
How many square feet is one bigha?
It depends where you are, which is the problem with bigha. In UP and Uttarakhand it is about 27,000 sq ft; in West Bengal about 14,400; in Rajasthan and elsewhere different again. This tool uses the most common definitions, but for a transaction take the figure from the sale deed.
What is gaj?
A square yard — 9 square feet. Plot sizes in north India are quoted in gaj constantly, so a 100 gaj plot is 900 square feet.
