Frequently asked questions
How much wastage should I allow for tiles?
Ten per cent for a straight layout in a simple rectangular room. Fifteen for diagonal or herringbone patterns, rooms with many corners and cutouts, or large-format tiles where one bad cut wastes a whole piece.
How many 600 × 600 tiles are in a square metre?
A 600 × 600 mm tile covers 0.36 m², so 2.78 tiles per square metre — call it three once cuts are included. A box of four covers about 1.44 m².
Should I buy all the tiles at once?
Yes. Tiles are produced in batches and the shade genuinely differs between them, which shows badly across a floor. Buy the full quantity including wastage in one order, and keep the offcuts and a few spares for repairs.
