Frequently asked questions
How big should a WhatsApp QR code be printed?
At least 2 cm across for something read at arm’s length, and around 5 cm for a poster read from a metre away. Keep the white border: scanners need that quiet zone to find the code at all.
Why will my QR code not scan?
Usually contrast or the quiet zone. A light code on a dark background often fails, as does a code printed right up against other artwork. Test with more than one phone before printing — and if you inverted the colours, put them back.
Is this the same as the QR code in WhatsApp Business?
Similar in effect but not the same thing. WhatsApp Business generates a code tied to your account; this makes a code for a wa.me link, which works with any account and lets you pre-fill the message — useful on a menu card or an order counter.
