Frequently asked questions
Will the PDF look exactly like my Word document?
The content will be faithful โ headings, lists, tables, images and formatting all carry over โ but the pagination will not match Word exactly, and headers, footers and page numbers are Word features that do not survive. When the layout has to match precisely, Word's own "Save as PDF" is the right tool. When you just need a PDF of the content, this saves the round trip.
Why can it not read my .doc file?
The pre-2007 .doc format is a binary Word format with no dependable browser parser, so reading it would produce garbled text rather than an honest result. Open it in Word or Google Docs and save as .docx first โ both are free and .docx is what everyone expects now anyway.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No, and that is the point. Most free Word-to-PDF sites upload your file, convert it on their machine and hold it for some period afterwards. This one unzips and converts the document inside your browser, so a contract or an appraisal letter never leaves your laptop.
Will the text be searchable in the PDF?
Yes. The PDF is generated from real text by your browser's print engine, so it stays selectable, searchable and copyable โ unlike converters that render each page as an image.
